Prairie

Grassland, sagebrush plains and agriculture croplands predominate this region. The most striking feature is the absence of trees, except in river valleys and coulees where moisture is sufficient to support cottonwoods and other deciduous trees. Much of this region is ranching and farming country.

Travel

You can reach the major centres in the prairie region by way of excellent all-season highways. Air services make regularly scheduled flights from the Calgary International Airport to Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. The region is traversed by paved highways and gravel roads.
